At
Amica you will find someone who is trained to help you consider the options
to enable you to make an informed decision without any pressure.
The
three main options we explore are:

In
Scotland most abortions take place in NHS hospitals. Methods of abortion
vary according to the stage of pregnancy. The details below should only
be used as a guide. Please check details with a GP or contact
Amica for more information.
Complications
resulting from abortion include post
abortion stress.

Most
people immediately say, "I could never do that" when
adoption is offered as an option. For some it may be a very positive choice.
Adoption
basically provides a child with new parents and is usually arranged by
an organisation like the Scottish Adoption Agency.
You
don't need to decide during your pregnancy about adoption, a final decision
can be made after the baby is born.
"Adoption
means I don't care about my child." Adoption means you do
care. You're not rejecting your child as unwanted but you're putting the
child first by ensuring they receive what you feel unable to give at this
present time.
You
can meet a social worker to discuss all that an adoption involves or you
can talk with someone in Amica who can give you more information.

When
faced with an unplanned pregnancy it is very difficult to consider all
that may be involved in keeping a baby. Sometimes the circumstances seem
overwhelming and the initial reaction may well be, "I can't keep
it"
Circumstances
tend to dictate our decisions. Practical help is available to ease some
of the problems:
