information iconpost abortion stress
Many people don't readily choose to have an abortion, but when they are faced with an unplanned pregnancy and the pressures of overwhelming circumstances there often seems like no other choice.

Immediately after an abortion the feeling is often of relief, because the problem has been dealt with. But the initial feeling of relief can be replaced later with a variety of emotions that were not expected.

symptoms
Symptoms of post abortion stress can surface months or years later. These include:

Depression
Feelings of guilt and remorse
A sense of emptiness and loss
Anger at family or friends
Low self esteem

Find out if you will benefit from post abortion support by asking yourself some questions.

Most people feel they have to bury any thoughts and emotions about the abortion because no one will understand how they feel. Some don't think they should talk about it because the abortion was their choice and there is no reason why they should be feeling so bad. Many fear being judged for their decision. Trying to deal with all this alone can be very traumatic. Support is available for those struggling to come to terms with a past abortion.
